Baku Old Town – Absheron Peninsula You will be met by your guide and driver at your hotel in Baku to begin city tour in Icheri Sheher – the old part of the Azerbaijan capital. Visit Maiden Tower, Shirvan Shahs’ Palace, Caravanserai, and market square with numerous art studios and souvenir stalls. Continue to the Memory Alley Shehidler Khiyabany that opens up a great panoramic view of Baku city. Drive out of the city to Absheron peninsula. First stop is Ateshgah – temple of fire worshippers located in Suraxani village. Zoroastrians from India travelled thousands of kilometers to Ateshgah to worship fire coming out of the earth. Continue to Gala Museum Complex where you can discover archaeological artifacts and explore elements of traditional living style. An excellent round-up of the city tour will be a visit to Yanar Dag Mountain with natural gas burning for several thousands of years. Return to Baku. The excursion to Absheron Peninsula and Old Baku will be rounded up with a drop-off at the hotel/your place.

Tour to Khinalug, a small mountain village, one of the oldest in the world. Its age is more than 5,000 years. This is the highest and most isolated settlement in the Greater Caucasus mountain range, located on the border with Dagestan, 63 km from Quba. Its residents numbering about 2,000 still retain unique cultural traditions, speak their own language and wear their own traditional clothes.

It has a special status among Christian Albanian monuments. It is valuable not only as an architectural monument but also because of its outstanding historical significance. The official date of its birth is the 1st century AD when the territory of Azerbaijan was included into Caucasian part of Albania . Historians assume that the temple was founded by apostle Elise i who brought Christianity to Albania : “Elise having received the Orient as his lot went from Jerusalem to Persia and started to preach with his three pupils; there he was prosecuted so he arrived in Kish where he founded a church and made a bloodless sacrifice
